Maybe not so much more niche titles which might be why I'm starting to lean to those more. That honestly feels like most modern games now or at least bigger budget ones. As someone who likes both genres and is my personal favorite I'm starting to not like it when games feel like they want a hybrid style. It adds depth in ways but also holds the game's potential back. In a lot of action games now they seem to want to adopt RPG elements instead of keeping them pure games. I think Wes said this not long ago that the RPG elements hold Automata back and I'm starting to agree with that. It certainly couldn't be compared to the likes of a Bayonetta or Ninja Gaiden(not god awful 3). I've always put them at the bottom of the barrel when it came to combat systems though. I kind of agree on God of War but what always held those games up for me was presentation. That probably hurt my experience a little. The game was so bad I stopped about halfway through then just Youtube the rest of the story. But yeah you should definately try those games if you have never played them.Ĭlick to expand.I actually didn't play through the entire thing. Scalebound would still have never been as epic as Drakengard tho cuz you get to reaking ride around on a dragon torching stuff lol!!ĭont expect the same kind of combat that is in Nier: Auto or the story. Its gotta be dirt cheap now tho right? Drakengard is probably why so many people were interested in Scalebound. (Love hack and slashing through hordes) Nier was cool but after the story there wasnt much reason to own it. I played all 3 though and put alot of hours into them. Drakengard has multiple endings also but I forget what triggers them, but it doesnt really matter because by the end of the game the story is bat shit insane. Leveling up your weapons and your dragon. If you dont like Dynasty Warriors you probably wouldnt like Drakengard, just a crap ton of hack n slash lol. Drakengard may not be alot of peoples cup of tea. You get to make new weapons from the materials you get from fighting stuff. It has multiple endings that reveal things about the other characters you encounter. It actually has a pretty awesome story although a little wierd. Like swooping down and chomping on stuff, Hovering in the air and just flamethrowing everything around you, or creating this massive fire storm/meteor shower. In Drakengard 2 it is pretty sweet because you can store up attack power in your dragon and unleash some really brutal attacks on the ground forces. And that usually between every ground mission you have sky missions where you fly around as the dragon and take out hordes of crap in the sky. Flying just above the battlefield and puke fireballs over all the crap on the ground. While your on the ground tho you can summon this Dragon that you make a pact with. As you level up the weapons (Lv4 max?) they grow in power. Each weapon has a "spell" or ability attached to it. On the ground you can find new weapons to add to your collection. The game is a hack and slash type game where you fight through hordes of enemies on the ground and in the air. First off though the story in Drakengard is absolute shit and your crazy ass japanese garbage fest. Drakengard is an awesome series though that everyone should play.
